DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BSC NAUTICAL SCIENCE AND DIPLOMA NAUTICAL SCIENCE?

DNS VERSUS B.Sc.

  1. Course period: DNS- 1 year , BSc- 3 years

  2. Degree - DNS- Diploma in Nautical Science which gets converted into Degree after your cadetship period. Whereas in http://B.Sc course is a degree course.

  3. Cadet Ship period - DNS- 18 months , http://B.SC - 12 months.

  4. Investment - DNS- Around 6 lakhs , BSc - Around 15 lakhs (ex- TMI)

  5. Placement - DNS- Sponsorship test gives you an opportunity to have that job security , once you clear the sponsorship test then you are placed in that Shipping Company. Whereas in B.Sc it is campus placement.

CAUTION: In case of sponsorship - make sure that you join a good shipping company. In case of campus placement , make sure that get placement from college or else you will under the clasps of agents who will charge you in lakhs and might dupe you as well. In both these cases , students need to be very very cautious and careful.

6. Future course : Once your cadet ship period is over and you become second mate then after that it’s all the same. No body is interested in knowing your school , college or from which course you have done your pre-sea. All a Captain or Chief Ofiicer looks in for is : Right attitude , willingness to learn and grow.

I have tried to put in all bits and pieces together . jai mata di.
